The Navy said in a statement that the F-35C Lightning-2 Carrier Air Wing 2 crashed while landing on the US aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). This fighter jet was on its daily flight in the South China Sea. However, due to the timely ejection, the life of the pilot was saved. The pilot was later rescued by a military helicopter.
The Navy has said in its statement that the condition of the pilot is completely stable at present. Seven Navy personnel who were present on the deck of USS Carl Vinson were injured in this accident. Three of these soldiers have been sent to the Medical Treatment Facility Center in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, while four others are being treated on the USS Carl Vinson.
