Pushpa – In The Rise, Allu Arjun’s character Pushparaj says a line – Did you understand the flower after hearing the name Pushpa? Main Fire Hai, Jhukunga Nahi… and indeed Pushpa proved to be a fire at the box office. Proving this line of the hero to be true, the Hindi version of the film not only overcame all the challenges of Corona without bowing down but also touched an important milestone of 100 crores.

Pushpa’s craze among the Hindi audience is amazing as it was not even promoted in that way in the Hindi belt before the film’s release. However, at a pre-release event of the film, veteran director SS Rajamouli advised the makers to promote it legally, considering the potential of the film. But, if the story is good then it makes the way in the hearts of the audience. The same happened with Pushpa.

The Hindi version of the Telugu film Pushpa was simultaneously released in cinemas on 17 December. Let me tell you, this was the first film of Telugu star Allu Arjun, which was also released in Hindi. The film made its intentions clear with its release and after taking a modest start, continued to garner audiences in theatres. In particular, the craze for Pushpa was noticed in smaller towns.

Pushpa’s Attack on Corona

Meanwhile, fears of a third wave of the corona virus pandemic started and due to the growing influence of Omicron, theaters were closed in some states including Delhi. There were restrictions like night and weekend curfew. Where theaters were open, the seating capacity was already 50 per cent. But Pushpa was just spreading like a fire. According to Box Office India report, Pushpa collected around 27 crores in the first week, 20 crores in the second week, 24.62 crores in the third week, 12.41 crores in the fourth week and 7.20 crores in the fifth week.

Fifth South Film in the 100 Crore Club in the Hindi Belt

In the sixth week ending January 27, Pushpa made a net collection of about 6.23 crores, with which Pushpa’s six-week net collection had gone up to 97.75 crores. The film crossed the 100 crore mark on Sunday, the last day of the seventh weekend that started on 28 January. However, the final figures are yet to come from the trade side.

Pushpa has achieved this feat when the film has been released in Hindi on Amazon Prime Video. Pushpa has joined the list of films from the South, which have collected at least 100 crores at the Hindi box office. These include Prabhas starrer Baahubali – The Beginning, Baahubali 2- The Conclusion, Saaho and Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0. 2.0 was made in Tamil and Hindi. The audience is now waiting for its sequel Pushpa – The Rule.
